October 2015, Autumn in Salento

I love the month of October, in the UK but especially in Salento. Golden sunshine baths the green countryside and the seaside towns are much quieter but it’s still warm enough to sit outside for lunch.

The house is really starting to come together and we have lots of decisions to make. I am particularly obssessing about lights – wall lights, bathroom lights, kitchen lights, outside lights… We decided that we would buy quite a few from England so have some fabulous Anglepoise lights for above the kitchen table being delivered directly to Salento. Also on order and being delivered to Salento are some fabulous wall lights by Tigermoth Lighting. I can’t wait to see these installed!

A progress report – plastering is well underway throughout the whole house, and the outside, and it makes it feel like it’s all coming together.

I’m starting to get very excited about the hallway and can just picture opening the front door and looking down the hall to the garden beyond.

But it’s our master bathroom that will be really special. The star ceiling has been stripped of the plaster back to the stone and it looks so beautiful. The detailing of the stone work and the craftsmanship from nearly 400 years ago, very impressive.

On this wall, beneath the arch, will be our shower.  The stone work here will also be repointed and cleaned up. It’s going to be a fabulous bathroom!
